Do you have to know how to code to be a Salesforce Admin? I would yes and no. It depends on what you are trying to achieve. When you are first starting out and doing Junior Admin work (like me) , you can do your job without knowing any code. However, as I've learned from my colleague with over ten years in the admin game, knowing basic code can help you out a lot.

One of these ways is creating visualforce email templates with HTML and CSS. We have a ton of these in our org and the first time I was tasked with building a new one, I was completely lost.

To fix that issue, I've decided to learn to code. Not only will this help me at my current job, but it also helps me achieve my goals of becoming a Developer within the next year or so and ultimately becoming a CTA.

For my first day of one hundred, I worked on the HTML course on freecodecamp.org.

Difficulty: 1 Time Spent: 30 Min

Takeaways:

  • Coding is really fun. I really like just being able to type something and it turns into something cool right away.

  • HTML is not that bad and seems pretty self-explanatory. The words that you're typing are exactly what you are trying to do.

  • I think I will pick this up really quickly and will be able to use it at work pretty soon.

Have you guys gone through the HTML course on freecodecamp.org? What did you think? What did you learn today?
