My plan for today was to start on my Doggo Photos project, but then I started to try and set things up in GitHub and I realized that I have no idea how to use GitHub.

After spending some time following their Hello World tutorial, I decided that I still needed some more practice with it. I added the GitHub Labs app to my account and chose the 'Introduction to HTML and CSS' tutorial that boasts that I can build a webpage in one day.

Then when I tried to register and start the course, this kept happening:

Clearly, today is not my day to build a webpage :(

After some frustrating moments and some thinking, I decided that I would try to find a good tutorial to follow on youtube for building my first page.

I found this tutorial and followed it to the best of my ability. You can find my code here.

I felt like I was able to follow along for the most part, though I did have to pause or go back a few times because this tutorial goes very fast. The one part I think I still have trouble with is the very beginning where she can see the outcome of her code in her browser. Even after watching this part a few times, I still can't get my code to look like hers. Maybe you guys can help me figure out where I went wrong?

Difficulty: 2

Time Spent: 1 hour

  • The whole process of getting your code onto the internet is something I need to work on. I feel like FCC is sorely missing these instructions from their lessons and it needs to be included before or in the HTML course. I still struggle with this. Do you know where I can find this information?

-I think I have HTML down for the most part now.

-I need to be better at remembering closing tags. I feel like I always want to move on to the next thing but I have to go back once I realize the last thing I did isn't showing up before I forgot the tag.

I hope that tomorrow, things will go a little bit better and I will be able to figure some more things out. Overall, I still learned how to make an HTML table today, so it wasn't a waste at all.
